For many decades, the Laguna Beach Police Department has maintained an extremely high level of service to the community, and I firmly believe that the quality of policing we provide is among the best in the nation.  Laguna Beach is an eclectic collection of diverse lifestyles and viewpoints which our officers and civilian staff are committed to serving and protecting.  However, such diversity presents many challenges to policing.  Because of the quality of the character of our employees and with the support of our residents, business people, and visitors, I sincerely feel we are successful at confronting these challenges in a professional and humanistic manner. 

Dealing with community problems is not just the job of the Police and City staff, but one that must be resolved through a partnership with everyone who enjoys Laguna Beach.  Our department strives to seek non-traditional approaches to resolving policing problems while being tough on crime.

I truly am proud to have been given the opportunity to work with the outstanding members of this department and to serve a community which I have grown to be a part of in my thirty-four years with the City.  As your Chief of Police I hope to continue to carry out our department’s traditions of community involvement and high levels of service while maintaining a successful record of suppressing, investigating, and adjudicating criminal incidents.
